Lauren Davey

Lauren is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at UVic. She completed her Ph.D. training with Drs. Song Lee and Scott Halperin at Dalhousie University, and her post-doctoral training with Raphael Valdivia at Duke University.

Natalie Boraston

Natalie is a recent graduate of the honours microbiology program at uvic and is super excited to be joining the Davey lab. Her thesis research included studying and developing an assay to detect antibiotic tolerance in Enterococcus faecalis. In her free time, Natalie likes to read and make sure her plants live to see another day.

Emily Howard

Co-op student and TRIANGLE Summer Studentship Award recipient

Emily is heading into her third year of Biochemistry in the fall and is passionate about all things science. Originally from South Africa, she loves to explore the island and get outdoors to hike, mountain bike, and kayak. In their spare time, they also enjoy gardening, painting, and playing classical guitar.

Kayla Hargrove

Co-op student and NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award recipient

Kayla Hargrove is a fourth-year Biochemistry major, enrolled in the honours program, and is currently working in the Davey lab this summer. She was born and raised on Vancouver Island and hopes to attend the Island Medical Program after graduation. Outside of academics, Kayla enjoys graphic designing, running, volunteering, and climbing!

Eva Heimpel

Research Assistant and Faculty of Science Emerging Researcher Award recipient

Eva is super excited to be working in the Davey lab this summer, and to be starting her honours project in the fall! She is a 4th year Biochemistry major from Edmonton Alberta, and loves to do pretty much anything outdoors. In her spare time you can find her at the climbing gym, hiking in the mountains or at the beach!
