Dr. Lauren Davey

    Lauren is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at UVic. She completed her Ph.D. training with Drs. Song Lee and Scott Halperin at Dalhousie University, and her post-doctoral training with Raphael Valdivia at Duke University. 

Georgia Tiegs

Research Tech

    Georgia recently completed her BSc in Microbiology at UVic and is working as a research assistant in the Davey lab. Her research interests include microbial genetics and bioinformatics. Outside of the lab, she loves to read, try new recipes, and practice yoga.

Kayla Hargrove

Graduate Student

         Kayla has previously worked in the Davey lab as a co-op student, followed by enrolling in the honours program, during her undergraduate BSc degree. She is now a masters student and is excited to continue her research with Dr. Davey. Kayla was born and raised on Vancouver Island and hopes to pursue medical school after completing UVic’s MSc program. Beyond academics, Kayla enjoys drawing, being active, volunteering, and is currently learning how to play the piano!

Kate joined the lab in January 2025 as a master’s student. She completed her BSc in biochemistry at UVic and went on to work for the Reynolds laboratory and the BC Cancer Tumour Tissue Repository. Kate spends her free time cooking, paddle boarding and watching F1.        

Kayla Hargrove

Katerina recently earned her BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria, where she worked as a research technician in the Davey Lab. She is excited to continue exploring Akkermansia genetics as a Master’s student. Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Katerina enjoys hiking, knitting, and baking in her spare time.

Arianna Lagoudakis

Arianna started her master’s in the Davey Lab in January 2025. She previously completed a directed studied project with us while earning her BSc in Microbiology from the University of Victoria. She is originally from Surrey, and in her spare time, you can find her reading, caring for her many houseplants or at the beach.
